The Royal Television Society (RTS) are nationally recognised for their support of the broadcast industry. Represented by the many industry professionals from across the media, the RTS were seeking to further engage and connect with potential future members.
We realised the RTS could do more to target students; the future leaders of the industry. We developed a strategy to engage with media students across Yorkshire and Humberside by promoting the RTS, its benefits of membership, its activity and its brand around one of the RTS’s flagship events; the RTS Yorkshire Student Awards.
The mission? To revamp the RTS Yorkshire Student Awards, develop a new brand and identity, and increase awareness of the RTS to media students.
We wanted a recognised TV personality to host the awards, someone the students could relate to. We secured Alex Zane to host the event. Alex, a national TV presenter and comedian originally from Leeds, was the perfect choice to add credibility to the event.
We managed the delivery of the event, promoted the event with printed materials, built a supporting website, and brokered event sponsorship with leading production companies and suppliers.
The result was the biggest regional RTS Student Awards event to date, planned and delivered to over 400 guests.
To ensure a continuous relationship with the RTS, we want to produce a series of industry masterclasses to support credible messages about the RTS to the thousands of media students across the region.
